LINE AND STAFF RELATIONS

 

 

Each employee position shall be designated an immediate supervisor to whom the employee shall report.  Identification of the immediate supervisor shall be included in the job description for each employee position.  For those employee positions for which no job description exists, the immediate supervisor shall be designated by the Superintendent.

 

All personnel shall be expected to refer matters requiring administrative action to their immediate supervisors and keep them informed of all activities.  The immediate supervisor shall refer such matters to the next administrative level of authority when necessary.

 

Line of authority shall not restrict the cooperative, sensible working together of all staff members at all levels in order to develop the best possible programs and services.  The established lines of authority represent direction of authority and responsibility.  Cooperative efforts at all levels of authority improve the programs and operations of the school district.

 

All personnel shall have the right to appeal any decision made by a supervisor through approved grievance procedures.  Within the broad framework of School Board policy, other certified personnel may assist the immediate supervisor as may be assigned.

 

The Superintendent shall be the instructional leader and chief administrative officer of the school district.  As such, he/she has primary responsibility for personnel actions in the district as may be outlined in state law or School Board policy.

 

School principals shall be required to supervise and direct the programs in the school to which assigned in accordance with all policies of the School Board.  Principals shall work under direction of the Superintendent, to whom they are professionally and administratively responsible.

 

Teachers shall be responsible to the building principal and shall be obligated to abide by established rules and regulations in the performance of all classroom and other assigned duties.
