FACILITY EXPANSION PROGRAM

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

It shall be the objective of the School Board to authorize the construction or renovation of a sufficient number of school buildings to meet the demands of present and future student enrollments and, in doing so, provide the most productive education environment possible for students at the lowest expenditure of tax dollars.

Decisions pertaining to the construction of educational facilities shall be made only after an attempt has been made to carefully consider the viewpoints and needs of students, teachers, parents and other taxpayers and receive pertinent advice from qualified professionals.

Architects employed by the Board shall be expected to plan for utility, simplicity of design, sound economics, including low long-range maintenance costs and insurance rates, high educational utility, flexibility and energy conservation.

It shall be the responsibility of the Board and Superintendent to develop and implement plans for the school system which shall meet the future educational requirements of the community. Upon initiation of buildings and grounds planning activities, input shall be sought from individual citizens, citizen groups, and other public agencies such as the Police Jury, City Council and Chamber of Commerce.  The Board shall make the decisions based on long-range building plans and accreditation needs which will be implemented over the years to meet the school system's requirements.
