ANNUAL LEAVE

 

 

Twelve (12) month full-time employees shall earn annual leave in accordance with the following:

 

Years of Service in East Feliciana Parish

Number of Annual Leave Days

 

 

0-5     consecutive years

10 days

6-15   consecutive years

15 days

16+    consecutive years

20 days

 

The years of service for annual leave shall begin on the date of employment as a twelve-month employee with the East Feliciana Parish School Board.

 

Annual leave may be accumulated and carried forward as earned up to a maximum of thirty (30) days.  Eligible employees who had accumulated more than thirty (30) unused annual leave days prior to June 2002 shall retain those accumulated annual leave days but shall be prohibited from earning and/or accumulating any more annual leave days until the total number of accumulated days is reduced to less than thirty (30).  At that time, they shall be subject to the accumulation limit of thirty (30) days as stated above.  Employees exceeding their annual leave shall automatically be deducted at full pay.

 

An eligible employee shall be required to work the entire fiscal year to have earned annual leave days credited to his/her account, otherwise the number of earned annual leave days shall be pro-rated in accordance with the length of employment during the fiscal year.  Annual leave shall be earned through the end of each fiscal year and credited to the employee's account at the beginning of the next fiscal year.

 

All requests for use of annual leave shall be submitted to the Superintendent for review and approval prior to taking anticipated annual leave.  Approval shall be based upon such factors as work requirements and time of the year.

 

Payment of Unused Annual Leave

 

The School Board shall make payment to all eligible employees or to their estates for all unused accumulated annual leave upon retirement or separation of employment with the school system.  Such payment shall be at the daily rate of pay paid to the employee at the time of their retirement or separation of employment.  Payment shall be made on or before the next regular payday for the pay cycle during which the employee was working at the time of separation or no later than fifteen (15) days following the date of retirement or separation of employment, whichever occurs first.
