EQUAL EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES

 

 

It is the policy of the East Feliciana Parish School Board, 12732 Silliman Street, Post Office Box 397, Clinton, Louisiana 70722-0397, Telephone: (504) 683-8277 or FAX: (504) 683-3320, to provide equal educational opportunities without regard to race, color, national origin, natural, protective, or cultural hairstyle, marital status, religion, sex, age, mental and/or physical challenge, or veteran status in its educational programs and activities.  Inquiries concerning application of this policy may be referred to the appropriate personnel outlined in the Equal Opportunity Policy Notification statement posted in all School Board owned facilities.  The Equal Opportunity Policy Notification Statement shall be distributed and in-serviced to all employees, students and parents/guardians prior to and/or during the opening of schools and shall be published in all handbooks (student, etc.) and other instances/documents requiring such notification.

 

The East Feliciana Parish School Board will receive and investigate through the Title IX Coordinator (Superintendent) all written allegations submitted on available forms addressing racially derogatory remarks and acts, and other negative race based behavioral offenses.  This prohibition from such racially derogatory remarks and acts, and other negative race based behavioral offenses is applicable to all School Board personnel, students, parents and any other party involved with School Board and/or school programs or activities.  Anyone violating this policy shall be subject to disciplinary actions or sanctions as set by the School Board.

 

Any student or parent/guardian shall have available to them written procedures for resolving complaints and grievances (as outlined in School Board policy JCE, Student Complaints and Grievances) regarding discrimination on the basis of race which may arise in any program or activity operated and/or hosted by the East Feliciana Parish School District, involving staff, students, parents or community persons.

 

The East Feliciana Parish School Board will provide counseling for its employee/agents, students, parents, or community persons who are either victims or offenders in incidents of a racial nature.

 

The East Feliciana Parish School Board shall publish the Equal Opportunity Notification Statement at the beginning of each year in its Official Journal.
