MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING

OF THE EAST FELICIANA PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

HELD August 8, 2023

The East Feliciana Parish School Board (EFPSB) met for a regular session at the EFPSB office at 12732 Silliman Street, Clinton, Louisiana 70722 on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.

Keisha L. Netterville, Superintendent of the EFPSB, called the meeting to order at 5:00p.m. Prayer led by Board Vice President Mitch Harrell and pledge said in unison. The attendance status of board members was as follows:

Agenda Approved

Board Member Joyce Kent made a motion to approve the agenda and Board Member J. D. Dantzler seconded the motion. The motion to approve the agenda of the August 8, 2023 Regular Board Meeting passed with no opposition.

Minutes Approved

Board Member Joyce Kent moved to approve the minutes of the July 6, 2023 Regular Board Meeting and Board Member Melissa Davis seconded the motion. The motion to approve the minutes passed with no opposition.

Communications/Reports

A moment of silence taken for all expressions of sympathy.

Sales Tax Collection Report

The Sales Tax Collection Report was received by the board.

Superintendent's Report

The Superintendent's Report was received by the board as follows:

Louisiana Board of Ethics School Board Member Disclosure Statements Reporting Period for the 2023-2024 School Year (information for board members).

LSBA Fall Trailblazer Workshop (information for board members).

The Board received the Policy Committee report from the meeting held on August 8, 2023 at 4:30pm. Board Member Joyce Kent opened the meeting at 4:30p.m. Board Member Patricia King made a motion to accept the agenda and Board Member Rufus Nesbitt seconded the motion. Board Member Joyce Kent turned the floor over to Superintendent Netterville for any questions concerning the policies listed. With no questions, the recommendation was made by Board Member Joyce Kent to take to the full board for approval of the following policies:

(a)    Board Policy FILE EBBB: School and Student Safety

(b)    Board Policy FILE EDCB: Carpool and Bus Line Safety (New)

(c)    Board Policy FILE IDCJ: Continuous Learning (New)

(d)    Board Policy FILE JB: Attendance

(e)    Board Policy FILE JBD: Student Absences and Excuses

(f)     Board Policy FILE JDA: Corporal Punishment

(g)    Board Policy FILE JGCD: Administration of Medication

(h)    Board Policy FILE BCAD: Teleconference/Remote Participation in School Board Meetings

(i)   Board Policy FILE BCBI: Public Participation in School Board Meetings

The motion to adjourn was made by Board Member Rufus Nesbitt and seconded by Board Member Patricia King. The Policy Committee meeting adjourned at 4:42pm.

Board Member Michael Bradford made the motion to accept all policy changes, revisions and new. Board Member Joyce Kent seconded the motion. All policies accepted and approved with no opposition.

Adjournment

President Terrell moved to adjourn and a motion made by Board Member Michael Bradford and second by Board Member Joyce Kent. The August 8, 2023 Regular Board meeting ended at 5:11 p.m.
